We are NEXT!!!

I can hardly believe it as I type it out... we are definitely NEXT!!! Last week matches were received, from China, for LID dates through March 14, 2006. Congratulations to all those families who are finally getting to lay eyes on their child for the first time :)

Since our LID is 3/15/06 that means we ARE going to be in the next set of matches. We're hoping that we will know something within the next two weeks about WHEN to expect referrals to be mailed and then we will ready ourselves for "The Call".

Words can't describe how anxious we are getting!! After all this time is it really possible???? Will we be ready??? Only God knows for sure and He has brought us this far :)

Never a dull moment!

On April 10th our home was hit and destroyed by an F-4 tornado that hit Murfreesboro. I was home with the girls but had enough time to get them, and the dog, safely into the closet under the stairs. Madeline and her sister Regina were in the car trying to avoid it and saw it hit our home. Everyone is safe but we unfortunately lost most of our belongings. We are so thankful for what we do have...each other, family, friends, and our church family. We have been overwhelmed with the love, support and generosity of so many. It is amazing how unimportant all of the material things become when a disaster strikes and we thank God to be so blessed with so much! ~ A

Today we mark 3 years since LID....

Three years ago to the day our dossier was accepted in China and we officially received our Logged In Date (LID) from the CCAA.

March 15th 2006 - March 15th 2009

3 years

36 months

156 weeks

1,095 days

26,280 hours

1,576,800 minutes

YIKES!!!!

I borrowed these numbers from another blog to put this "Wait" into more tangible terms.

Who would have guessed how long this journey would become??? We surely didn't imagine it!!!

What we knew both then and now is that when this time of preparation comes to an end, just like physical pregnancy, we will immediately begin the journey of a lifetime with a new little one :) We are excited, albeit impatient, to realize all that God has in store for our family! - M

Rumor has it.....

Rumor Queen is reporting that at least one agency is saying that this months' cut off is 3/6/06. Since we are 3/15/06 that moves us closer leaving us only 9days away. If the CCAA matches 4 days in March and 4 days in April that means we will make it into the May set of matches. If they manage just one extra day in the next two months we could see our new little one's face in April which would be a FANTASTIC gift for our 12th wedding anniversary!!!

Please keep our child-to-be, and all the other babies waiting for homes, in your prayers :) - M

Matching has begun...

Our agency has updated their website today saying that the CCAA has started matching for this month. That "usually" means that we should hear how many days they have matched sometime next week. It would be fantastic if they got through March 7th because it looks to be a day with many families logged in!!
With each set of matches we know how much closer we are to receiving our referral :) We will just have to wait... what's another week when we've waited this long :)

I thought I would explain a little about what is actually involved in "matching", to the best of my knowledge anyway!!

Above is a picture of the China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) Building. This is the centralized agency in China to oversee all International Adoption. Each month Social Welfare Institutes in each Province (like states here) send the files of children cleared for adoption to the CCAA.

Here is one of the inside. On the far wall you will see all the family dossiers, like ours. Just sitting in piles waiting to be matched to child files..someday!

We are hoping that our dossier has at least made it from the wall of files to a cart (or any other means of transportation) on it's way to a matchers desk SOON!

Once the family dossiers make it onto a CCAA match-makers desk it will be paired with their child's file. Over the years we have heard all sorts of speculation as to why a certain child file may be matched to the parent's. It does seem they match an Agency batch to a Social Welfare Institute (SWI) based on numbers. For example if our agency has 18 dossiers and a SWI has 18 or so child files then they match accordingly. Or if two SWI's in the same province have a total of 18 then they work it out that way.

Some say they will look at our passport photos, which are on the cover of our dossier and look for physical similarities. We are hoping and praying that this one isn't the case as our passport photos are HORRIBLE! When we took them it was in a serious rush to get our dossier completed and well.. lets just say we look ROUGH! We have also heard they will look at the sibilings-to-be's pictures for similarities. This would be MUCH MUCH better :)

No one here really knows for sure but families that have adopted from China say God must have been present at the matching desks as their child is perfect for their family!

we will keep you updated as we learn more - M

February is going sooo slow!!!

When you are waiting for rumors of the next set of matches, you tend to wish the days away :( Not so much wish them away, but hope they pass quickly. I can't believe it is only the 4th of this month and we still have a few weeks, at least 10 days, until we start to hear something, anything.. even if it is isn't exact!!!!

We are so anxious to know how many more months until we are matched! Will it be March or April or May???? There are SO many plans to be made... tons of travel items to be gathered ... arrangements to make for our girls... NONE of which can happen until we know WHEN!!!

We have heard that the wait gets much harder after you have a picture... if that is the case, bring on the HARDER wait!!! Seriously, did I just say that?!?

2 days....

Matches were received today from the CCAA (China Center of Adoption Affairs) for families with Logged in Dates (LID's) 3/1/06 and 3/2/06. We were definitely hoping for them to get further but we will take what we can get. We have only 13 more days to go! Hopefully they can match more days next month.

Many of our online friends are seeing their child's face for the very first time today, learning how old they are, how much they weigh, a bit about their personality and what province they live in and that is SO exciting!!!
We are so happy for those families today :)
